In the middle of Australia’s desert outback, one of the most gruelling motorsport events on the planet is taking shape yet again, the Tatts Finke Desert Race. The Finke, as it is known, is widely respected by Off Road Racers all over the world as one of the most punishing tests of man and machine.

1376b_sm Perth based outfit Outer Bounds Racing (OBR) will once again be ready to tackle the famed event, with no stone going unturned in the fight to be crowned the coveted King of the Desert.

Leading the charge will be Travis Robinson and Paul Currie in the #13 Twin Turbo powered Jimco. After having failed to finish the event while leading the past three years, the dynamic duo will no doubt be out to prove a point in the BF Goodrich supported rocket.

“The car is ready to go. We have been prepping it all year for this race and we are here to do well and make up for the last few years disappointment” commented Travis. “We have been in Alice for the last week or so, pre-running sections of the course and making sure the car and the team are comfortable with everything leading up to the event”.

1376d_sm Saturday will see the team take to the Prologue course to determine their start order for race day and with the Red Centre’s dust typically playing a large factor in the iconic event, the Robinson brothers will be pulling out all the stops to ensure a starting position up the front of the grid.

Sunday’s race to Finke is followed by an overnight service stop in the remote community, before the final charge back to Alice Springs on Monday. OBR’s #1 fan, Fazey, said “despite a few AORC competitors choosing to attend the Sea Lake Rally on the same weekend, the entry list is shaping up to be the most fiercely competitive groups in recent history. This concentration of Australian champions and Australia’s elite off road teams will provide for intense, thrilling competition for the every one of the event’s 450 kilometres.”
